Andrew Steve Sawchuk

February 19, 1950 — May 13, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and great love that we announce the passing of Andy Sawchuk on May 13, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born in Hanover, Germany, on February 19, 1950, Andy immigrated to Canada with his family in 1954, settling in Saskatoon. Andy graduated from Bedford Road Collegiate, where he was a standout on the football field. He was part of back-to-back undefeated provincial football championship teams and also won the first ever BRIT basketball tournament. He later attended business school in Moose Jaw, carrying with him the same dedication and energy he brought to the field.

In 1975, Andy married his first love Terry. Together they built a beautiful life and raised two children until her passing in 2007. In 2011, Andy found love again and married Joan on May 14. He cherished their blended family and loved each member as his own.

Andy is lovingly remembered by his children:- Greg (Mary) and their daughters, Ella and Ava- Carla (Brian) and their children, Alex and Lyra

He is also survived by his wife Joan and her children:- Sharmon (Rod), and their children Tara (Ben), Shaylyn (Michael), Sheila and her children Joe and Lane. Darcy and his children Keegan, Kaleb, and Khloe.- As well as 7 beloved great-grandchildren.

Andy leaves behind his siblings:- Liz, his beloved brother Alex (Joan), Terry (Debbie), and Karen (Manuel), and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

He was predeceased by his parents Stefan and Ella, his brother Bohdan, his first wife Terry, and his sister-in-law Sandra.

Andy was well known for his sharp wit, easy going personality and generosity to anyone and everyone. He never minced words, and always spoke what was on his mind. But above all, he was a man of deep faith. A devoted member of Bay Park Baptist Church, Andy's spiritual life was a source of strength, purpose, and community. Whether cheering from the sidelines, asking "who's the handsomest, and why am I?", or bowing his head in prayer, Andy lived fully and loved deeply.

A celebration of Andy's life will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at 1:00 PM at Bay Park Baptist Church, 1419 33rd Street West, Saskatoon, SK. Officiated by Dr. Jerry Richards.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Andy's memory may be made to Bay Park Baptist Church or St. Paul's Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

Andy's legacy of laughter, faith, and love will live on in all who knew him.
