Obituary

With heavy hearts, the family of Alfred "Fred" Van Landuyt announce his passing on July 27, 2026.

Fred was born in Chatham, Ontario, to a family of seven children whose roots traced back to Belgium. He attended Catholic school before continuing his education at community college in Ontario.

From a young age, Fred was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to tackle just about anything. He worked a variety of jobs around Chatham, including spending ten years with Rockwell International. Looking for new opportunities, he eventually made his way west, living in Edmonton, Provost, and Senlac, where he worked as both a mechanic and in a salt mine.

It was during this chapter of his life that Fred met the love of his life, Nancy. Together they settled in Saskatoon, where they built a life and where Fred would remain for the rest of his years. He earned his Journeyman Roofer certification and proudly owned and operated his own roofing company. Around the age of 40, Fred embraced a new career, obtaining his real estate licence. He spent the remainder of his working years helping people find homes - a career that suited his caring nature and genuine desire to help others.

Fred found joy in the simple things in life. Whether he was tending to his garden, casting a line while fishing, or enjoying time spent camping with family and friends, he appreciated every opportunity to be outdoors. A true jack of all trades, there was little that Fred couldn't repair, build, or figure out. More than anything, he will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and good-natured way of making those around him feel comfortable and cared for.

Though Fred's hands were rarely still, it was his generous heart and quiet kindness that left the greatest impression. He lived a life built on hard work, humility, and helping others, and those who knew and loved him will carry his memory with them always.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Nancy Strelioff; his son, Lee Van Landuyt (fiancée SheaLynn Springgay); his treasured grandsons, Kashton, Keean, Kayson, and Kohen; his brother-in-law, Randy Strelioff; his mother-in-law, Dolores Strelioff; his sister, Betty Wasilewski; his brother, Andy Van Landuyt; along with numerous family members, and many friends.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Mr. Fred Van Landuyt's care and arrangements.
